KAYA PA SA KAYAPA? RuRi, do we still have the energy to help one more farmers in the far-off town of Kayapa? Kaya pa? There’s so much Broccoli in that place that middlemen are having their way with with the farmers. Not only are they able to dictate the price they want—P15/kilo, that’s what they are paying!— they are also able to get away from taking only the flowers and sending back the stems and stalks to the farmers. Here are proofs. The situation has gotten so bad that some farmers are leaving the Broccoli to rot in the field. Pampataba ng mga daga at lupa, ganun na lang. What a sad situation this is, what a broken system, when farmers give you proof that this is really happening in places like Kayapa and our members tell us that Broccoli is still selling for P500 per kilo in the grocery stores.
